HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-24-1963 City Council Minutes345 ~ Council Meeting June 24, 1963 The City Council of the City of Elsinore met in regular session on June 24, 1963 and was called to order at 7:30 P.M, with P?ayor Bartlett presiding. Invocation was delivered by Rev. Durham and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Counci]man Berry. Roll call found all five councilmen present. Attorney Dougherty and City Administrator Guler also in attendance. This being the time and place £or the Public Hearing on Annexation #4, Lyle Watson spoke in behalf of Mr. Whitehead in stating that, State cannot be assessed for taxes or be part of sewer or water districts, but can contract for services. No protest being heard, Ordinance #411 passed on the first reading on motion Councilman Berry, seconded Council- man Yarborough. On motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Stewart, the public hearing on Annexation #6, postponed to Sept. 23rd. The minutes of June 10th, 1963 were approved as read. Mr. Weiss and Sam Farber being present, presented a request that the rezoning of property in question be granted. They were told it would be necessary to hold a public hearing before the Planning Commission before action taken by Council.. Mr, Kholos~ request for rezoning to be heard at same time. Ord. #349 to be amended concerning 45~ frontage on lots, attorney to draw necessary papers. Warrants were approved & ordered paid on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Stewart. Lyle Hodges request for the paving of alley back of Ford Agency, to be investigated by City Administrator, with the Council .reflecting that such a project must be carefully weighed because it would set a precedent that we might not be able to afford. Ordinance #410, re. mobilehome parks carried on the first reading on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Berry. Resolution #1110, re, removal o£ Santa Fe Tracks carried on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Berry. Resolution #1111, re. Feather River project carried on motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Yarborough. Resolution #1112, re. 1963/64 tax rate carried on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Stewart. Resolution #1113, re. 1963/64 budget carried on motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Yarborough. Resolution #1114, re, flag week July 1 to ?th, carried on motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Yarborough. Resolution #1115, re. obscene matter, carried on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Stewart. Thomas Roberts request for alignment of Poe Street referred to City Administrator £or investigation. The application of Thurman Thomas for a card room license at the B & B tabled for further study and police department check. Letter o£ commemoration to be sent to Mrs. Robert Claxton.
