HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-22-1964 City Council MinutesCOUNCIL MEETING JUNE 22, 1964 40~ The City Council of the City of Elsinore met in regular session on June 22, 1964 and was called to order at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Bartlett presiding. Invocation was delivered by Rev. Davis and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Berry. Roll call found all five councilmen present. Attorney Dougherty and City Manager Guler also in attendance. The minutes of June 8th, 1964 were corrected to show that the Council had instructed the City Manager to enforce Resolution #1134 as soon as suitable replacements were found, The minutes of June 15th and 17th were approved as read.. 4Jarrants were approved and ordered paid on motion Councilman Yarborough seconded Councilman Stewart, car. The clerk's and treasurer's reports for May were accepted on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Stewart, car. Congressman Monagan's letter on "Let Freedom Ring" Day, July 4th to be acknowledged and churches notified. Ord. #49~, read by title only on second reading on motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Yarborough, car. Ordinance #421, re. E. Graham rezoning, was adopted on the second reading on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman DePasquale, car. Resolution #1135, re. budget for 1964/65, carried to June 29th, 1964 at 7:3D P.M. Ordinance #422, re. Uniform Transient Occupancy Tax was read in it's entirety. Motion Councilman Stewart, seconded Councilman Yarborough, car., Ord. #422 amended to become effective January 1, 1965. Ord. #422 passed on the first reading as amended on motion Councilman DePasquale, seconded Councilman Stewart, car. Councilman DePasouale reported that he as a private citizen led a delegation that attended a meeting with the County Election Dept. to discuss restoring the election precincts to their traditional locations. Councilman Berry requested that Resolution#1134 be amended not to Include Walter C, Bittle, Chief of Police. Attorney Dougherty advised Councilman Berry that a new resolution would have to be drawn up. Several letters were read and the audience spoke on behalf of Mr. Bittle. Councilman Stewart moved and Councilman DePasquale seconded the motion that Mr. Bittle could make a special request for a closed personnel meeting with the council if he so desired, car. Mayor Bartlett then stated that if Mr. Bittle wished, a closed hearing would be granted in this matter. Mr. Bittle to notify City Manager of the time he wishes hearing to be set and if the councilmen can be present, the hearing will be set for mutual convenience.
