Re: Specific Plan Amendment
Lake Elsinore Outlet Mall
Dear Grant,
In preparation of the upcoming City Council meeting on July 9`h and the specific plan amendment for Lake
Elsinore Outlets, I wanted to clarify some matters as it pertains to off - premises advertising. During the recent
planning commission meeting, some concerns were raised concerning the off - premises advertising we are
looking to have at the project; more specifically on the freeway facing "super graphics ".
It has been and will always be our plan to only allow advertising that is harmonious with and works in
conjunction with the project and the community of Lake Elsinore. We would propose to clarify the following
requests in the sign program. The types of signage we will be looking to include will be for products or
services that are complementary to Lake Elsinore Outlets and the community. By way of example, advertisers
might include consumer products like Coca Cola, Monster Energy Drinks, Oakley Sunglasses, Wrangler Jeans
or Tag Huer Watches. Some of the products might be found in the center, but are not a specific tenant.
However, some products might not be in the center but are representative of the product types we may offer.
We will also look at products or suppliers of products not found in the center, but may be synonymous with
consumer spending; products such as Chevrolet or Ford cars and trucks, ski boats or motorcycle
manufacturers. With these advertisers, we might also tie into a local supplier such as Lake Chevrolet or Lake
Elsinore Ford. Other potential advertisers might include Lucas Oil, who sponsors several events in the
community. We might even work with local home builders to advertise nearby subdivisions. Now, while this
list is not all encompassing, I feel it gives you an idea of what we are trying to accomplish.
Now that we have discussed types of advertisers we would allow, lets discuss those we will not be allowing.
Examples may include local gentleman's clubs, adult bookstores or so called "head shops" and political
advertising, or basically anything that is not harmonious with a first class shopping center.
I reiterate that we are very sensitive to the fact that the off - premises advertising we are looking to do at Lake
Elsinore Outlets is a direct reflection of the project and we will ensure that no advertisers are allowed that will
have a negative connotation to the project or the community.
Please let me know if I may provide you with any additional information.
Sincerely,
Michael W. Garner, SCSM, CPM
