HomeMy WebLinkAbout21-08-2012 HP AdHoc MinutesCITY OF LAKE ELSINORE HISTORIC PRESERVATION AD HOC COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING MINUTES OF AUGUST 21, 2012 CALL TO ORDER Chairman Joyce Hohenadl called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chairman Hohenadl. ROLL CALL Present: Joyce Hohenadl, Chairman r Ruth Atkins, Vice Chairman Charlene Cleary Tim Fleming Absent: Linda Ridenour Also Present: John Larsen, Richard J. MacHott, Mary Arm Meafy,,Barbara Middlebrook, Suzie Rupnow and Grace Sandlin. BUSINESS ITEMS (1) Appointment of a Secretary for the Historic Preservation Ad Hoc Committee A motion was made by Ruth Atkins to appoint Charlene Cleary as Secretary for the committee. Tim Fleming seconded the motion. Motion was approved 4 -0. (2) Appointment of Vice Chair for the Historic Preservation Ad Hoc Committee Ruth Atkins volunteered to be Vice Chair for the committee and the members unanimously appointed her. -2- (4) Historic Preservation Ad Hoc Committee Duties and Responsibilities The committee members reviewed its duties as set forth in the City Council Resolution No. 2012 -041 establishing priorities and will assign duties and responsibilities. (5) Establishing a City Historic Preservation Commission The Historic Preservation Ad Hoc Committee discussed the establishment of a historic Preservation Commission. This commission would make its recommendations to the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission would then report to the city council the commission's recommendations. The Historic Preservation Commission would work with the various city departments concerning any historical preservation issues. A motion was made by Ruth Atkins to have a separate Historic Preservation Commission. The motion was seconded by Tim Fleming and the motion carried 4 -0. (6) Future Meetines The Historic Preservation Ad Hoc Committee will meet the third Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at the City Hall, Conference Room A. PUBLIC COMMENTS John Larsen, Richard J. MacHott, Mary Ann Mealy, Barbara Middlebrook, Suzie Rupnow and Grace Sandlin introduced themselves and each gave a brief background of their involvement with the City of Lake Elsinore. Grace Sandlin is very pleased this committee is being formed and said she was familiar with applying for Grant and would like to help. John. Larson congratulated the city for appointing the Historical Ad Hoc Committee. Richard MacHott explained his duties to the committee and that the City Council has limited the about of staff time and resources available to the Ad Hoc Committee. -3- F1 COMMITTEE MEMBERS COMMENTS Chairman Hohenadl thanked the committee members for volunteering their time to be on this committee. She stated that Richard MacHott has been of great assistance to the committee and appreciated that he attended the meeting. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Historic Preservation Ad Hoc Committee Chairman Hohenadl adjourned the meeting at 2:36 p.m. The next regular meeting will be September 18, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the City Hall. fl Attest: Charlene Cleary Secretary n Z- Jo ce lohenadl Chairman
