MODIFICATIONS TO STATION 85, McVICKER CANYON
Recommendations
1. Accept the enclosure of the exercise room to Fire Station 85
2. Approve Contract Payment of $26,215 to ,Lakeshore Homes for the work to
enclose the workout room at Fire Station 85.
3. File the Notice of Completion with the County Recorder
4. Return $4,051.00 from this project to Fund 232 Fire Facility
5. Release all retention monies 35 days after the filing of the Notice of
Completion
Background
Fire Station 85 is located in McVicker Canyon and provides emergency services to the
northwest portions of Lake Elsinore, parts of Western Riverside County and provides
support services to areas north of the City. As a part of their Memorandum of
Understanding, firefighters are allowed 1.5 hours per day to maintain physical fitness.
Station 85 was constructed with an exercise room, however it was open to the elements
so in May of 2011, the City Council approved monies from the Fire Facility Fund (fund
232) and Miscellaneous Funds (fund 105) to enclose the exercise room.
Discussion
In July of 2012, City staff received a quote from Lakeshore Homes to enclose the
exercise room at Fire Station 85 in McVicker Canyon. The work included installation of

windows, doors, drywall, insulation and modifications to the electrical and HVAC
systems. The cost of construction to install the changes to the room was $26,215. All
improvements were installed per City codes and Fire personnel requests.

The Station 85 will be funded by the following accounts:
