RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAKE ELSINORE, CALIFORNIA, IN OPPOSITION OF
PROPOSITION 30 — THE SCHOOLS AND LOCAL PUBLIC
SAFETY PROTECTION ACT
WHEREAS, Proposition 30 raises sales and income taxes on all Californians
over the next seven years; and
WHEREAS, taxes in California are already among the highest in the country
and continuing to raise them places a significant burden on California's residents, families
and businesses; and
WHEREAS, income taxes for individuals and small businesses will increase by
up to 32% and sales tax by over $1 billion, further impeding the economic growth of
California's communities; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature has demonstrated a misuse of state funds, as
evidenced by the recent State Parks scandal; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 30 does not guarantee new funding for schools; and
WEHREAS, Proposition 30 would generate $50 billion in state revenues but
does not require the legislature to enact the government reform needed to address the
state's structural deficit problem.

LAKE ELSINORE DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Mayor and City Council formally oppose Proposition 30.
