recognize Mr. E. Ray Barnett for his selfless service and
courage in coming to the aid of the five teenagers who were
caught in the San Jacinto River and commend him on his bravery
and courage on behalf of the City Council and all the citizens
of the City of Lake Elsinore.

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Lake
Elsinore does choose to recognize acts of outstanding community
service; and
WHEREAS, Jorge Rodriguez, a fireman at the Lake Elsinore
Fire Station did perform a heroic deed by rescuing five_
teenagers, ages 16 to 18 from the San Jacinto River during the
storms on January 16, 1993. Fireman Rodriguez and Volunteer
Fireman Barnett entered the river to a log float on a ladder
and threw ropes to the teenagers and pulled two of them to
safety with no thought of the risk involved for themselves.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Lake Elsinore on this 23rd day of February, 1993, do hereby
recognize Mr. Jorge Rodriguez for his selfless service and
courage in coming to the aid of the five teenagers who were
caught in the San Jacinto River during the last rain storms of
January, 1993, and commend him on his bravery and courage on
behalf of the City Council and all the citizens of the City of
Lake Elsinore.
