A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE
ELSINORE, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE DESIGNATION OF THE
PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT FOR SUNBLAZE ROAD, ALBERHILL
RANCH ROAD AND NICHOLS ROAD
WHEREAS, prima facie Speed Limits have been established on certain
designated portions of City Streets by Resolution Nos. 99 -7, 2001 -41, 2002 -09, 2002-
70, 2003 -54 and 2006 -70; and
WHEREAS, Sunblaze Road, Alberhill Ranch Road and Nichols Road do not
have an established prima facie speed limit; and
WHEREAS, an established prima facie speed limit is required for the
enforcement of speed limits by radar and other electronic measuring devices; and
WHEREAS, an Engineering and Traffic Survey, as required by the California
Vehicle Code, has recently been completed for each roadway, a copy of which is on file
for public inspection in the office of the City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, Section 10.20.010 of Title 10 of the Municipal Code provides for the
designation of prima facie speed limits by resolution of the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE ELSINORE
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That in accordance with the City of Lake Elsinore Municipal Code,
the City Council determines as follows:
1. That the Prima Facie Speed Limit for Sunblaze Road between Rosetta
Canyon Drive and Trellis Lane shall be 35 mph and such designated speed is
the most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and to be
reasonably safe.
2. That the Prima Facie Speed Limit for Alberhill Ranch Road between Lake
Street and Nichols Road shall be 35 mph and such designated speed is the
most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and to be
reasonably safe.
3. That the Prima Facie Speed Limit for Nichols Road between Collier Avenue
and Lake Street shall be 50 mph and such designated speed is the most
appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and to be reasonably
safe.

4. That the Engineering and Traffic Survey in the City of Lake Elsinore for
Sunblaze Road, Alberhill Ranch Road and Nichols Road dated April 30, 2012,
May 21, 2012 and May 21, 2012 respectively, followed the procedures
prescribed by the California Vehicle Code and the California MUTCD and
describes the speed limits to be established by this Resolution.
5. The Prima Facie speed limits established by this Resolution shall become
effective when appropriate signs giving notice thereof are erected upon the
streets specified.
6. The City Engineer shall place and maintain signs and markings sufficient to
notice such prima facie speed limit.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage and adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 10th day of July, 2012.
