BRADY, CITY MANAGER DATE: FEBRUARY 28, 2012 SUBJECT: NAMING OF DONATED SCOREBOARDS FOR BASEBALL FIELDS AT CANYON HILLS COMMUNITY PARK Background Pardee Homes is in the process of constructing the Canyon Hills Community Park. This eighteen (18) acre Park will include the construction of two baseball fields. Discussion City Staff was recently notified by Mike Taylor, V.P. Pardee Homes that the Lake Elsinore Storm Baseball organization and Pardee Homes are both interested in donating two scoreboards for the Park's baseball fields, subject to placing their company names on the scoreboards. The scoreboards are not a required element of the park per the Development Agreement. Time is of the essence due to the ongoing construction and timeliness of the installation of the scoreboards. Per City Council Policy No. 400-10, the naming of public facilities shall be approved by the City Council. Fiscal Impact Approval of this item will result in the donation of two scoreboards installed at the City's Canyon Hills Community Park. The scoreboards and installation have an estimated value of $20,000. Recommendations Staff recommends the City Council accept the donation of two scoreboards and approve the naming of the scoreboards consistent with the names of the donating parties, subject to the submittal of a scaled rendering of the scoreboards showing the exact names for review and approval by the City Manager.
