HISTORIC DOWNTOWN RIVERWALK IN- PAVEMENT
CROSSWALK LIGHTS AT CHANEY STREET

Background
In late 2010 into 2011the City sponsored the construction of the Riverwalk Project which
provided a multi -use trail from the lake to the end of the outflow channel at Riverside
Drive. Due to the amount of traffic on Chaney Street, staff wanted a more clear method
to alert drivers that pedestrians /bicyclers were crossing the street. After performing
research, the Traffic Engineer evaluated that due to the nature of the crosswalk at this
location that it would be a good candidate for "In- Pavement Crosswalk Lights ". This is a
push button triggered system that activate flashing LED lights constructed in the
pavement across Chaney Street.
Discussion
On August 23, 2011, City Council awarded the construction contract to Luna Pacific
Construction. Luna Pacific Construction completed the contract work on December 15,
2011, in conformance with the approved plans and specifications. There were no
contract change orders on this project.
Fiscal Impact
The Historic Downtown Riverwalk Project extending from Lake Elsinore to Riverside
Drive was funded in the amount of $800,000 with Proposition 50 and Gas Tax funds.

Recommendations
1. Accept the improvements into the City Maintained System.
2. File the Notice of Completion with the County Recorder
3. Release all retention monies 35 day after the filing of the Notice of Completion
