BRADY CITY MANAGER DATE: DECEMBER 23, 2008 SUBJECT: CITY CLERK RECRUITMENT Background Recruitment for the City Clerk position began on October 29, 2008. The closing date for submitting applications was December 15, 2008. A total of 32 applications were received. Discussion The attached City Clerk Recruitment timeline outlines the schedule and process to select a person for the City Clerk position. The tentative start date for the new City Clerk is Monday, March 16, 2009. As with past recruitments, the City Council has appointed a sub - committee consisting of two Council members to review the applications and conduct the first round of interviews. The entire City Council would interview the top candidates selected by the sub - committee. Depending on the number of candidates to be interviewed, the interviews could be held during the regular closed session on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. The Mayor has suggested that Mayor Pro Tem Melendez and Councilwoman Bhutta be appointed to the sub - committee to conduct the initial selection of candidates and the first interview. Fiscal Impact Recruitment for the City Clerk has been handled in -house and the associated costs have been included as part of the existing budget. No additional funds will need to be allocated for the recruitment process.
